NEW DELHI — Micromax, the Indian consumer electronics company launched the Canvas Laptab on Thursday, an Intel-powered tablet-laptop hybrid PC.

The Micromax Laptab has a 10.1-inch (1280x800 pixel resolution) multi-touch IPS display. The tablet can be detached from the base, which consists of a detachable keyboard and trackpad, relying on a magnetic hinge to secure itself to the tablet.

Powered by a quad-core 1.83 GHz Intel Atom 4th Gen processor, the device has 2GB of RAM, 32 GB of onboard storage, an expandable memory slot that accepts 64GB microSD cards.

The Laptab comes with a year’s subscription to MS Office 365 and 1 terabyte of online storage. The device currently runs Windows 8.1, and will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10.

The Laptab has a 7700 mAh battery that the company claims can power the device for 10 hours. Weighing 1.1 kgs, the Laptab has a 2 megapixel front and rear cameras, a SIM card slot that supports 3G networks.

Micromax has priced the device at Rs 14,999, which comes with a year-long onsite warranty.
