NEW DELHI — Nepal's iconic Durbar Square was in shambles after an earthquake shook the Himalayan region on Saturday. Footage from a drone hovering over the area showed the devastation that the 7.9 temblor caused.

User Kishor Rana has uploaded a series of videos on his Facebook page and the footage from the videos show damaged building, crumbling roads and widespread loss to property as people tried to piece their lives back together.

"These are desperate times but we must all unite together in times like these. Here are the footages I took today of the aftermath of the 7.9 earthquake that hit us yesterday. Out of respect to the victims family, I did not take footages of live rescues taking place. We not only lost many lives and homes but we lost many pieces of our cultural heritage, our history. These are the footages of all the ancient cultural heritage sites that were destroyed during the earthquake," he wrote.

As the death toll in Nepal crossed 4000, the earthquake-hit Himalayan nation struggled to limp back to normalcy even though basic amenities still remained scarce and people continued to dig through rubble to get at bodies trapped underneath iron and concrete.

Here are the videos:
