NEW DELHI — The Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated its successful membership drive after the campaign crossed the 10 crore mark.

"The people of India had elected the BJP to the Centre with trust and confidence, and that trust has only strengthened over the past 10 months. After seeing the result in the Lok Sabha elections, party president Amit Shah decided that the BJP will become the world largest political party," BJP secretary Shrikant Sharma told the media.

"Today, when the number of members has crossed 10 crores, we have been successful in our mission," he added.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Dr Anil Jain credited the efforts of the party workers for the achievement.

"Amit Shah's leadership and the efforts of the party workers has ensured that we have been successful in reaching our goal," he said.

After crossing the 10 crore mark, the BJP has reportedly become the largest political party in the world, overtaking the Communist Party of China (CPC). The membership drive will continue till April 30.
