These Four Indians Are Among The Most Influential People In The World

Four Indians (or of Indian origin) have been named in Time's list of '100 Most Influential People In The World'. These include two people recognised as 'Titans', and one each as 'Pioneer' and 'Leader'. No Indian was named in the sub-categories of artists or icons.

Here's a look at the fantastic four who made it to this year's elite group that included world leaders, entertainment celebrities, and other change-makers.

Chanda Kochhar - 'A banker with vision and reach'

Named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People, Chanda Kochhar has been placed under the category of Time's 'Titans'."She [Kochhar] has shaped retail banking in India ever since she assumed her pivotal role in establishing ICICI Bank during the 1990s... she has brought India’s largest private bank a global vision and impressive returns, while also reaching out to the nation’s masses with branches in remote villages where banks simply didn’t exist," writes Anshu Jain, co–CEO of Deutsche Bank.
Satya Nadella - 'The turnaround artist'

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella "is basically the star of one of those teen movies where the parents go out of town and the kid takes control of the place. And it’s been great," writes Aaron Levie, CEO of Box. Nadella is on the Time 100 list as one of the 'Titans'.
Vikram Patel - 'Well-being warrior'

This Goa-based psychiatrist and Professor of International Mental Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has been advocating for an integrated national health system in India.Recognised for being a pioneer, "[h]e is a gifted psychiatrist, a dedicated researcher, a successful author of books and academic papers, and he is an effective communicator," writes Barbara Van Dahlen, psychologist and the founder of Give an Hour, a network of volunteer mental-health professionals.
Narendra Modi - 'India’s reformer-in-chief'

Modi's life story 'reflects the dynamism and potential of India’s rise,' writes US President Barack Obama. Featuring on the Time 100 list for his influence as a leader, Modi "transcends the ancient and the modern—a devotee of yoga who connects with Indian citizens on Twitter and imagines a 'digital India'," according to Obama.
