Sheila Dikshit has claimed to be misquoted in a recent interview where she allegedly questioned Rahul Gandhi's leadership abilities.

On Tuesday, PTI quoted the former Delhi chief minister as saying, "There are question marks over Rahul Gandhi's leadership qualities; Sonia should continue to lead the Congress."

Dikshit told NDTV that she asked PTI to correct the story as she "did not name Rahul Gandhi in the interview at all".

However, Dikshit also said she told the newswire that Rahul Gandhi "would make a good prime minister" and that "Sonia Gandhi is a good president" as part of her clarifications.

Dikshit also stated her confidence in Sonia Gandhi's rule, saying that "the comfort level in working with Sonia Gandhi as president is very high."

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party's vice-president, is currently on the 55th day of his sabbatical from politics. There is great deal of speculation about him replacing his mother as president after he returns.

But senior party leaders Amarinder Singh and Dikshit's son Sandeep had come out strongly against Rahul's elevation.
