KOLKATA — The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League began today after a rain-delayed opening ceremony that brought superstars of the game and Bollywood together at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Saif Ali Khan hosted the event, that featured live performances by Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan, who got the loudest cheers from the crowd.

All the teams came out, led by their captain. The local crowd rooted the most for their home team Kolkata Knight Riders, and their captain Gautam Gambhir.
There is no other event as glamorous as the IPL in the world of cricket. And it also has the highest salaries for players who come from all over the world to entertain capacity crowds in stadiums across India.
