The worst of the devastating flood is over and spring is in the air in Jammu and Kashmir. The tulip fields, Asia's largest, are in full bloom, transforming the valley into a magical realm.

The mustard fields are a riot of golden and the hills are draped in snow. The photos contrast the death and destruction last week as incessant rains triggered flash floods in the state. Landslides in the valley have killed 17 people and hundreds have been left homeless.

These images are proof life goes on.
