KOLKATA — Tension prevailed at the Belur Ramrkishnan Mission at Belur Math following a minor bomb explosion of a crude bomb in the evening yesterday.
The police said station fire fight sources got into work after the explosion but there was no casualty.
Investigation suggested it was a minor cracker blast but further investigation is on, police said.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called the monks and Howrah police commissioner Ajey Ranade rushed to the spot, Times of India reported. The area was cordoned off and police combed the area for explosives, the report stated.
A major pilgrimage site in the state, Belur Math is where Swami Vivekananda spent his last days.
"It appears to be a powerful firecracker but we are investigating all angles," TOI quoted Howrah DC-HQ Nishat Parvej as saying. (With inputs from PTI)
