SRINAGAR — A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district today.

Acting on a tip off about presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said.

He said a gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated.

No casualties have been reported in the incident so far, the official said, adding intermittent exchange of firing was going on between the two sides.
