Maybe, not the worst punishment ever. Two policemen have been suspended for allegedly taking two men arrested in a fraud case to a bar instead of the lockup, the Times of India reported.

A preliminary inquiry found them guilty of dereliction of duty.

"It's a serious act of dereliction of duty on the policemen's part. It cannot be ignored, and to send out a strong message so that such incidents are not repeated, the quantum of punishment has to be justified," Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria told TOI.

Allegedly an assistant police inspector, Dhananjay More, was also involved in the incident. More and police constable Kiran Bote have admitted to their crime and given a written apology, the report said. The cops were at the bar for seven hours.
