Twin blasts hit two churches in the Youhanbad area of Lahore on Sunday morning in Pakistan. An enraged mob lynched two suspects to death.

On Sunday evening, Express Tribune reported that 14 people have been killed and 75 injured in the attack.

“I was sitting at a shop near the church when a blast jolted the area. I rushed towards the spot and saw the security guard scuffle with a man who was trying to enter the church, after failing, he blew himself up,” said witness Amir Masih. “I saw his body parts flying through the air.” The guard, he said, also died.

The attack on the Christian community in Lahore has sparked protests in several parts of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. “We have carried out the attack,” TTP JA spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told The Express Tribune via phone.

Pastor David, a cleric at the site, said, “One blast took place at the entrance of one church where a congregation was going on. Another blast took place in the second church.” The distance between the two churches, he said, was 500 metres apart.
