New MacBook Ships To India On April 10, Starting at Rs 99,990

Along with the launch of the 12-inch Macbook, Apple’s thinnest and lightest ever, the company also refreshed its MacBook Pro and Air line-up yesterday with with the latest generation Intel processors, new trackpads, improvements in graphics and battery life.

The new MacBook, available in three aluminium finishes — silver, space gray and gold features a 12-inch Retina Display with a resolution of 2304 x 1440, and sports a 67 percent smaller logic board than the one found on the MacBook Air. Weighing just 900 grams, the fifth-generation Intel Core M processor on the new Macbook consumes just 5 watts of power, making it the world’s most energy efficient notebook, Apple claims.

The new MacBook will begin shipping in India on April 10, starting at Rs 99,900 for the entry-level version, which has a 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB of flash storage and Intel HD Graphics 5300. The higher-end MacBook, with faster 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, and 512 GB of flash storage is priced at Rs 119,900.

The newly updated Macbook Pro, with Intel Iris Graphics 6100 and fifth generation Intel Core processors incorporates flash storage that the company claims is up to two times faster. The 13-inch Macbook Pro has a starting price of Rs 94,900, which gets you the version with a 2.7 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage.

For Rs 109,900, you get 256GB of flash storage, while Rs 129,900 buys you the 2.9 GHz version, which comes with 512 GB of flash storage.

The updated 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Airs, with fifth generation Intel Core processors, Intel HD Graphics, faster flash storage and Thunderbolt 2 start at Rs 65,900 for the entry-level 11-inch version, and Rs 72,900 for the 13-inch version, which comes with 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage.

The new Macbook Air and Pros will be available through select authorised resellers in India starting today.
