In a society ruled by traditional patriarchy, women often find their basic rights curtailed. But it's not all bad, being a woman in India. As the world celebrated International Women's Day, these five videos from India opened a meaningful avenue of dialogue on the issues that deeply affect women.

Tables' Rights

This hilarious video by The Viral Fever talks about the need of equality between...erm...tables and chairs. Why should chairs have all the fun? Why is a table's worth equated to its size? You will not miss the symbolisms used in this apparently cheery video to talk of a grave issue.

Notes To Self

YouTube launched the #DearMe campaign, encouraging users to upload "video letters" with advice to their younger selves. With an aim to help girls deal with problems, the topic touched a chord with women all over the world and became the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter within an hour.

Tying The Knot

If you're an Indian girl over the age of 18, you will have answered the barrage of questions that inevitably follow any young single woman in her 20s. This video by comedienne Aditi Mittal, featuring Bollywood actress Richa Chadha, is a hilarious take on the arranged marriage scene in India.

The 'V' Word

She asks what's the fuss about the word 'vagina'. A word that everyone knows but no one talks about; a word that generates awkward silence when spoken of. This progressive video by Fame Fashion aims to empower a woman to talk, love and respect her own body.

A Mother's Letter

This video by EmotionalFulls revolves around a mother giving words of wisdom to her young daughter who has moved out of the house. From being comfortable in your own skin, to valuing your own opinions, this mother teaches is teaching her daughter to be proud of her own opinions and thoughts.
