MUMBAI -- Sonam Kapoor was diagnosed with swine flu on Sunday after a check-up at a Rajkot hospital. However her publicist says the actress is now on the road to recovery.
According to the representative, there are too many "unofficial and irresponsible statements being made on Sonam's behalf" and that's the reason why they have released a statement to make things clear.
"We are releasing this statement to set the record straight. Sonam has been detected with swine flu but it's under control," Sonam's publicists said in a statement.
"She's been shifted to a hospital in Mumbai and she's showing signs of a speedy recovery. Hopefully she should be back at work soon. We thank all her fans and the industry alike for the love and support they have shown her," the publicists added.
The actress was shifted to Kokilaben Ambani hospital in western Mumbai on Sunday, where she is currently being treated.
India has been under the grip of a swine flu epidemic since the beginning of 2015, with the death toll at 1,041 and nearly 19,000 people who have been affected by the virus.
Just found out. Doctors say that Sonam Kapoor is doing well and responding well to treatment. No point of concern, they say. #SwineFlu
