White And Gold Or Blue And Black? This Dress Is Breaking The Internet Right Now

White And Gold Or Blue And Black? This Dress Is Breaking The Internet Right Now
Swiked/Tumblr

The biggest debate raging on the internet right now is the colour of a dress uploaded by Tumblr user swiked two days ago. She asked “Guys please help me – is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree…”

People can't seem to make up their mind on what colour the dress is - while it seems like white and gold to most, others are insisting that it is blue and black. Some have speculated that the colours are washed out due to over exposure, and that it is this particular blue and black dress that can be seen on Amazon.

Anyone who disagrees, I'm at Hollywood and Highland, come fight me. #TheDresspic.twitter.com/VDUz9mS8vC

What color is that dress? I see white & gold. Kanye sees black & blue, who is color blind?

I don't understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it's a trick somehow.

I'm confused and scared.

PS it's OBVIOUSLY BLUE AND BLACK

Wired tried to break down the science behind the colour of the dress.

"This fight is about more than just social media—it’s about primal biology and the way human eyes and brains have evolved to see color in a sunlit world," Adam Rogers wrote in this piece on the Wired.

“What’s happening here is your visual system is looking at this thing, and you’re trying to discount the chromatic bias of the daylight axis,” the Wired quoted Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist as saying.

Update: Adobe weighs in on the matter.
