With a week to go before Mobile World Congress opens in Barcelona, Spain, Motorola has updated its entry-level Android smartphone, the Moto E with a larger screen, LTE connectivity, and dual cameras.

Aimed at first-time smartphone buyers who can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars, Motorola said that it believes access to the mobile internet should be a choice, not a privilege on the blog announcing the launch of the Moto E.

Launched in the US at $150, the new Moto E sports many improvements over its predecessor - it gets a larger 4.5-inch qHD display, 8 GB of storage and a larger 2390 mAh battery. The camera now has auto-focus and 720p video recording capabilities, in addition to a secondary VGA camera.

The Moto E runs Android Lollipop, and can be customised with interchangeable bands and grip shells. The Moto E is expected to launch in 50 countries starting today.

Update: Motorola India's Twitter handle confirms that the Moto E will be priced at Rs6,999 and will retail exclusively through Flipkart.
