On Tuesday, #தமிழ்வாழ்க became the first Tamil hashtag to trend on Twitter. It held the first position past midnight into Wednesday.

Over the weekend, #जयहिन्द became the first Hindi word to trend on Twitter during the India-Pakistan match on Sunday.

Tamil loyalists flooded Twitter with messages expressing their pride and love for the language.
