Samsung Launches Galaxy A7, Three New 4G Smartphones

Bangkok: Global electronics giant Samsung Monday launched a range of products, including three 4G-enabled smartphones, the world's first "convertible" refrigerator and a library of 2.5 lakh Indian songs and 1,500 movies.

The A7 features a premium metal unibody design, and is fitted with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor, 16GB of storage and 2 GB RAM, the A7 has a 13 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. The A7 is priced at Rs. 30,499 and is available for order now.

Along with the Galaxy A7, Samsung also introduced a fleet of 4G enabled smartphones – the Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, the Galaxy Core Prime 4G and the Galaxy J1 4G.

The Galaxy J1 4G is the only one of the three with a price tag revealed — at Rs. 9,900, the J1 is designed for the user who wants 4G on a budget. This is a dual sim phone with a 4.3-inch WVGA TFT display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera, 768 MB RAM and 4 GB storage with a microSD slot for cards up to 128 GB. Rounding the specs off is a 1.2 Ghz quad core processor and a 1850 mAh battery. The J1 will hit the shelves in March 2015 and will be available in 3 colours — blue, white and black.

The Galaxy Grand and Core Prime 4G will be on a slightly higher price bracket that the J1. The Grand Prime 4G sports a 5-inch qHD TFT display, also powered by the 1.2 Ghz Quad Core processor. With 8 GB storage with up to 64 GB microSD support, 2000 mAh battery, 1 GB of RAM with an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel selfie camera with a wide angle view.

The Galaxy Core 4G has similar specs to the J1. Powered by a 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor, the Core 4G has a 4.5-inch WVGA TFT display, 8 GB storage with microSD up to 64 GB, 1 GB RAM, 5 megapixel front and 2 megapixel rear camera and a battery of 1850 mAh.

All phones are dual-sim and run Android 4.4 KitKat. The phones support both TDD and FDD 4G bands, and are capable of a download speed of 150 Mbps.

Samsung also launched a world's first "convertible" refrigerator, where people can change the freezer into an extension of the fridge with the touch of a button.

The company also launched the NEO series of digital inverter split air conditioner that consumes up to 60 per cent less electricity and cools more quickly than conventional ACs. It also unveiled ActivWash+ machines, designed to save time and make doing laundry easier.

Samsung also launched the Joy Smart TVs, which comes with built-in wifi that lets the users access internet and browse their favorite websites through its Smart Browser.
