BJP's 'North Eastern Immigrants' Blunder Sparks Outrage
BJP Vision Document

With just four days to go for the Delhi elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party is under fire for a major blunder in its 'Vision Document' released today. On page 14, the party promises to protect "North-Eastern Immigrants" by setting police stations and special 24-hour helpline numbers.

While "North-Eastern Immigrants" is a bold subhead, the text in the following paragraph says "North Eastern migrants."

Clarifying the B.J.P's stand, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “It was a clerical mistake, a printing error. We will correct the mistake,” he said.

BJP's political opponents demanded an apology. "People from the North East are citizens, not immigrants," said Ajay Maken, the chief ministerial candidate for the Congress Party. "The BJP must apologize."

The B.J.P. faux-pas unleashed outrage on social media.

Glad this is in the BJP's Vision Document for Delhi. But North Eastern 'IMMIGRANTS'? Facepalm. pic.twitter.com/RZEjs8pP7q
