AIB Roast: 6 Indian Celebrity Couples We Now Know Dated

As the dust settles after the release of the hit AIB Knockout roast of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, several things are now out in the open, at least through broad hints dropped during a night of abusive jokes and hilarious come-backs from a panel that spared no one.

If there was ever a perfect way to combine insults with sportsmanship for a good cause, then AIB hit the nail on the head. Singh and Kapoor certainly took one for the B’town team like champs, as did Roastmaster Karan Johar who was subject to his own fair share of gay jokes.

In fact the Kapoor-Singh duo – who officially became a comic tag team with their comedy act on Koffee With Karan – had their own brilliant comebacks, a couple of which outdid even the practiced comedians on stage. Singh’s act of proffering his derriere to Johar for a hit film had the audience in splits, especially when the famed director coolly walked away and proclaimed that the actor had taken “his position”.

However, if we were to read between the lines here, the AIB roast served one more purpose than raising money for charity. They hinted at past and present romances between several Bollywood couples. The stuff of gossip columns and party discussions, this is what we now know about these Bollywood stars.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone: While there was no dearth of jokes throughout the three videos – read Aditi Mittal who thanked Deepika for taking one for the team and keeping Ranveer off the streets – the final whistle blower was Ranveer himself, who responded to Arjun’s joke about being in a position to sleep with anyone they wanted as Bollywood stars, by pointedly looking at Deepika and saying, “not me, baby.” The smiling actress blew him a kiss across in response. Arjun added to this by calling Deepika, “bhaabi”. Question is, should we be expecting wedding bells, soon?

Ex-lovers Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma: Not only was it revealed that Ranveer and Anushka were once together, there were enough jokes about Ranveer not getting over Anushka till Deepika came along. Johar said it best: "Ranveer Singh has completed four years in the industry - one year of acting, and three of getting over Anushka Sharma."

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: Johar said of comedian Rohan Joshi: “Rohan Joshi recently moved from Malabar Hill to Santa Cruz. That’s like moving from Ranbir Kapoor to Ranveer Singh” - just for those who didn’t get it from the tattoo on the back of Deepika’s neck that spells out RK. There was also one mention of “Deepika dropping her dating standard” as a dig at Singh.

Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli: Cricketer Virat Kohli blew a kiss at Anushka after scoring 300 in a test match against Australia recently. The duo, dating for sometime now, have denied marriage plans. But their relationship status is now confirmed. Comedian and one of the roasters - Abish Mathew - stirred things up a bit by asking Singh: “How does it feel to be the only sad person in the country when Virat Kohli scores a century?”

Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha: The men seem clearly committed to their ladyloves. Even as Singh kissed Deepika while walking up to the stage, Kapoor nodded when congratulated by Mathew for dating Sonakshi Sinha.

Shaheen Bhatt and Rohan Joshi: While Tanmay Bhat was more subtle about this duo’s relationship by simply stating that Rohan was known only by his generic face and his connections to the Bhatt family, the comedian was outed by Singh who said: "you dated the sister of Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt. You're the most pointless addition to the Bhatt family since Vikram."
