The new trailer of 'Byomkesh Bakshy', Dibakar Banerjee's cinematic interpretation of writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's Bengali detective, is out. And it's perfect.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput makes a cool entry in his new avatar in the film as the Bengali sleuth. While the movie is set in the 1940's, the background score is comparatively modern and racy, adding to the chemistry between Rajput Swastika Mukherjee who plays the temptress, a role inspired by famous Frisian exotic dancer Mata Hari.

When asked about the similarity in structure to Arthur Conan Doyle's famous character and plots, Banerjee claimed his movie was an answer to Sherlock Holmes, and not based on him.

"It is an original and is a desi jawab (answer) to Sherlock Holmes in desi language. Byomkesh Bakshi remains the first and the most famous detective in India, and this is the first time that he will be seen on the big screen. All the aspects of the film are original and Indian."

'Byomkesh Bakshy' hits theatres on April 3rd, 2015.
