Microsoft announced the launch of two new low-cost smartphones, the Lumia 435 and 532 yesterday. The launch is part of a goal by Microsoft aimed at "bringing devices to as many people and price points as possible," said Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for phones at Microsoft.

Microsoft will offer single and dual SIM variants of the devices, they will come loaded with their latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote), Skype and 30 GB of cloud storage.

The Lumia 435 comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, with the ability to add micro-SD cards up to 128 GB. It has a 2 megapixel camera and a VGA quality front facing camera.

Both smartphones have 4-inch displays and 1560 mAh batteries, but differ in processors and camera specs. The Lumia 532 has a quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and a 5 megapixel camera.
