Priced at 8,999, Yureka’s specs and OS have captured the imagination of the geek community in India. Micromax claims that over 3 lakh registrations were made for the flash sale.

Amazon.in was unable to cope with the load, several users on Twitter complained about the site crashing under the stress of the flash sale. Some users also complained about the price mysteriously jumping to Rs12,499, and posted screenshots as evidence.

Geek and programmer Abhay Rana was one of the eager buyers who had lined up to purchase the Yureka, but he wasn’t able to beat the odds. He dug deeper into Amazon’s deal status response to conclude that Micromax had only sold 2,657 units in the flash sale. His findings have been published on his blog and on NextBigWhat.

It seems there were just 3k #YuYureka on sale today. @YUplaygod Care for an explanation? /cc @amazonINpic.twitter.com/BKXtDtX9pI

“My analysis was limited to looking at their website, after I found the Deal ID,” said Abhay. “I’ve checked it up with other deals that happened on Amazon.com, and I could see all the correct results on them. I don’t have any explanation why the number is 3,000, it might possible that people bought it at a higher price, but it doesn’t seem like they had a sale of 10,000 units.” he added.

We’ve reached out to Micromax for a comment on the same. The next sale begins on 22nd January.

In related news, 50,000 units of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4G went out of stock in 2 mins 50 seconds today, and 50,000 units of the Redmi 1S went out of stock in 11 seconds, according to the official Xiaomi India Twitter account.
