As parents buried their children in mass funerals in Pakistan on Wednesday, India joined its neighbour in mourning the loss of innocent lives, a day after the horrific attack on an army-run school in the city of Peshawar.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan killed 132 students at the school.

Indian lawmakers led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed a brief silence in the Lok Sabha to remember those killed. Schools also observed two minutes of silence and held special prayer meetings to express their solidarity with the students and parents in Pakistan.

In the wake of dastardly attack in Pakistan, I appeal to schools across India to observe 2 mins of silence tomorrow as a mark of solidarity.

The Lok Sabha passed a resolution extending, "its heartfelt condolences to and sympathises with the Parliament, Government, the people of Pakistan, the bereaved families and the injured."

"The House resolves that all barbaric terrorist attacks against innocent people especially vulnerable children should not be tolerated and calls upon all the nations and each and every one with all the energies at their command to fight against all acts of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the resolution said.

On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Modi phoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to express his "deepest condolences."

Spoke to PM Nawaz Sharif over the telephone. Offered my deepest condolences on the dastardly terror attack in Peshawar.
