Last night, amidst much fanfare, South African beauty Rolene Strauss was crowned the coveted Miss World 2014 title in Britain. The 22-year old medical student was beaming as she succeeded Miss World 2013, Megan Young of Philippines. Of the final five (Australia, Hungary, England, United States and South Africa), Hungarian candidate Edina Kulcsar bagged first runner-up, while Miss United States Elizabeth Safrit finished third.
While Miss India Koyal Rana did not clear the top 5, she grabbed a couple of coveted titles, including the best designer of the world for her Falguni and Shane Peacock gown, as well as the continental queen of Asia. She was also bestowed with the title Beauty with a Purpose. The highlight of the evening for Indian fans was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan taking the stage with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, daughter Aaradhya and her mother Vrinda Rai to receive a special award for her continued efforts in the same project since being crowned Miss World in 1994.
This morning, the proud hubby Instagrammed, saying: "The Mrs. Get awarded by Miss World as their most successful and impactful Miss World. Honoured. She got the award, I got to hold Little A. I got the better deal."
